GrayScale is a company created out of the frustrations of past clients feeling helpless when subjected to the typical nightmare of building a home addition. Over thirty years ago, starting as a business in the custom furniture and cabinet industry, Jim Campana, the owner of GrayScale, noticed how frequently homeowners were having problems getting the addition projects constructed as they wanted. He then began working on GrayScale and developed it as a resource for clients needing someone to create full-project plans that they could trust and understand. After years of development, GrayScale has a system to uncover the problems of a new addition or build-out before getting quotations from contractors. This process also helps educate the homeowner of the building process and possible problems of construction, thus keeping him or her in charge of the project and not the victim. Coupled with the fact that GrayScale has no finnancial interest in the project- other than stated drafting and development fees- the clients came to appreciate having a partner in the process for information and logistical help throughout the completion of the project. Then in 1999, Jim Campana closed his custom operations and began providing only GrayScale planning and design services.
